Academic Organisation
The early years department includes our Nursery and Reception classes. These two years are very important in the child's learning as they are taught self-discipline, independence, sense of responsability, and respect for others.
These children between the ages of 3 to 5 are provided with a curriculum that follows the Early Years Foundation Stage, which divides children’s learning and development in 6 areas:
•Personal, social and emotional development. Children are individually supported in developing confidence, self-esteem and respect for others.
•Communication, language and literacy. Our children will acquire competence in English at a very early stage. They will learn basic vocabulary by listening and responding to stories, songs and rhymes. Pre-reading and pre-writing skills are taught through different activities. The Jolly Phonics method will be introduced to them through songs and actions that all children find very enjoyable.
•Mathematics. We introduce through practical activities important aspects of mathematical understanding.
•Knowledge and understanding of the world. Children will be assisted to exploring and understanding their environment. We have structured different themes or topics where they will learn about the man-made world that surrounds them.
(We have a garden area where all our students can put their knowledge into practice).
•Creative development. We encourage our children to use a range of resources in order to express their own ideas and feelings through their art work.
•Physical development.. We have plenty of space on our grounds for all our children to move around safely enjoying the wide range of outdoor and indoor equipment that will allow them to develop their physical skills. We also have specially planned worksheets, according to their age group that will help them develop their skills.
